On Saturday 3rd July we held our annual charity
fundraising busking day in aid of the R.N.L.I.
This was our eighth busking day to date and again proved to be very
popular with customers and passers-by.The excellent weather enabled us
to stage the event on the pavement outside the store.
The day started off with a Scottish set provided by Brian Middleton and
friends,
followed by a selection of jazz/blues numbers by our sheet music
department manager Lauren, accompanied on piano by her dad.
Local duo “Clatter-in Kist” provided a mixture of continental music and
traditional tunes with David Martin on accordion and Ruth Hardie on fiddle.
One of our regular customers, Gordon Duthie entertained the crowds
towards lunchtime with Shadows numbers.
Next up was the ever popular Ronnie from Fubar was we are fortunate
enough to have most years. He gave another outstanding performance and
kept the
crowd amused, even taking a special request at one point!
Young up-and-coming local band The Daytonas were next on the list. The
guys drew a big crowd and proved to be very popular – one lady in particular who was waiting at
the bus stop deliberately missed two busses so she could continue
listening!
The day was finished by four of our tutors from The Studio (Bruce
Millers School of Music) who gave an excellent ending to a thoroughly
enjoyable day.
An impressive total of £774 was raised on the day
with proceeds going to the R.N.L.I
who we were more than happy to support.
Please come along next year and give us your support!
